Learn more about our Care Team roles
At WeCare, your care is delivered by a team of health professionals who work closely together to provide safe, effective support. Our clinicians come from different professional backgrounds, but most provide similar care - assessing symptoms, treating common conditions, and working together to make sure you get the help you need, when you need it. No matter who you see, you're in trusted hands.
General Practitioner (Doctors/GP)
Our GPs are expert doctors who provide care for all kinds of health concerns—whether it’s something simple or more complex. They’re trained to diagnose, treat, and manage a wide range of conditions, and can prescribe medication when needed. At WeCare, GPs work closely with our team of nurses and advanced clinicians to make sure every patient gets the right care, at the right time.
Nurse Practitioner (NP)
Our nurse practitioners are highly qualified, experienced clinicians who work independently to assess, diagnose, treat, and prescribe for all types of health concerns—just like a GP. They’re experts in primary care and often provide guidance and supervision to other members of our clinical team. At WeCare, you can feel confident knowing you’re being cared for by a senior clinician with the skills and authority to manage your health from start to finish.
Physician Associate (PA)
Our physician associates are highly trained medical professionals who work collaboratively with our healthcare team to provide comprehensive care. They are skilled in assessing, diagnosing, and managing a wide range of health conditions. While they work under the supervision of our doctors or nurse practitioners, they have the expertise to address your healthcare needs effectively. Any necessary prescriptions will be provided promptly through their supervising clinician, ensuring seamless and timely treatment. At WeCare, our physician associates are committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care.
Nurse Prescriber (NPr)
Our nurse prescribers are senior clinicians with advanced qualifications and extensive experience in primary health care. They’re specially trained to assess patients with a wide range of concerns, including undifferentiated conditions where the cause of symptoms isn’t immediately clear. They work like a GP and can diagnose, provide treatment, and prescribe medications when needed. If a patient’s situation is more complex, they’ll consult with a supervising doctor or nurse practitioner to make sure you receive safe, well-supported care.
Registered Nurse (RN)
Our registered nurses are highly trained health professionals who have a bachelor’s degree in nursing. Our nurses provide care for patients across a range of our services, including our CareNow clinic. They’re skilled in assessing and treating many common conditions, and work closely with our wider care team to make sure you get safe, effective care. If your nurse needs extra support or a second opinion, they can immediately consult one of our supervising doctors or nurse practitioners. You’re in good hands.
Enrolled Nurse (EN)
Our enrolled nurses are qualified health professionals who have a diploma in enrolled nursing. They provide care for patients across a range of our services, including our CareNow clinic. They’re skilled in assessing and treating many common conditions, and work closely with our wider care team to make sure you get safe, effective care. Enrolled nurses work under the direction of a registered nurse or nurse practitioner, with full support from our clinical team. You’re in good hands.
Medical Assistant (MA)
Our medical assistants are overseas-trained doctors who are not currently registered to practise medicine in New Zealand, but bring valuable medical knowledge and experience to the team. They carry out simple clinical tasks like blood tests and ECGs - similar to our healthcare assistants - and also support our clinicians with virtual care and behind-the-scenes work. Everything they do is under the direction and supervision of our registered healthcare professionals, helping us deliver safe, efficient care.
Healthcare Assistant (HCA)
Our healthcare assistants support our clinical team by helping with simple tasks like blood tests, ECGs, and other routine checks. They’re not registered health professionals, but they’re carefully trained in-house and always work under the guidance and supervision of our doctors and nurses. Their role helps keep your care running smoothly and on time.
