About viral gastroenteritis

Viral gastroenteritis (often called a stomach bug) causes diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting and cramping. It’s usually caused by a virus like norovirus or rotavirus and spreads easily from person to person. Most people recover at home within a few days, but treatment can help manage the symptoms.

Who can we treat?

We can treat people aged 1 year and over with mild viral gastroenteritis who are otherwise well and able to drink fluids.
