About Conjunctivitis

Conjunctivitis, or pink eye, is a common eye condition that causes redness, discharge, crustiness, or itchiness in one or both eyes. It’s often caused by a bacterial or viral infection and can spread to others very easily. Early treatment can help relieve symptoms and reduce the risk of passing it on to others.

Who can we treat?

We can treat patients aged 6 months and older with signs of conjunctivitis.

Our team will check your symptoms and may provide treatment if appropriate.

  • Prescription medications, eye drops or ointment
  • Self-care advice and return-to-school guidance
  • Medical certificates if needed

Caring for your eyes at home
  • Gently clean away discharge with cooled boiled water.
  • Wash your hands often and avoid touching your eyes.
  • Don’t share towels, pillows or makeup with others.
  • Children can return to school once the discharge has stopped.
Using your eye drops or ointment
  • Use the drops or ointment exactly as instructed.
  • Stop using them 48 hours after the discharge and redness fully clear.
  • Mild stinging or blurry vision is normal after use.
When to come back
  • If symptoms last more than 7 days or get worse.
  • If you develop eye pain, vision changes, or sensitivity to light.
